The paths on the “waterways” retrace ancient paths where we find fountains. washhouses, mills that testify to the ingenuity of man and his ways of organizing the territory and its resources. The route crosses the territories of Caprino/Rubiana/Gaon/Caiar.

Start from Villa Carlotti, an excellent example of a nobile villa from the XV11 century containing many rich frescoes. From here walking along Via Pertini (on the left side of the villa below the arch) you will reach a small emigrants memorial. Go on the “old road” with a small incline you enter the Corti D’Iseppi which has a small niche containing a picture of the Madonna, in the same court yard you will find a fresco on a façade representing the “Fortune of the World”. Continue along the path and you will come to a beautiful wash house in Rubiana di Sotto.

Continue until you reach Via San Lorenzo, turn right and then, before the crossroads, take the path to the right until you find the town. A short ramp, after crossing the road, leads to the small square overlooked by the church of S. Eurosia on which there is a plaque commemorating the Nazi-fascist roundups of 28 January 1945. Then you go down until you reach the small road that leads from Rubiana to Gaon, which can be reached (taking a left) in about ten minutes surrounded by vines and fruit trees. Once you reach Gaon, turn left slightly uphill and in a few meters you reach the beautiful wash house near the Zeni house, and then, retracing your steps, you quickly reach the Gaon wash fountain:

Go down the hill and you will reach Casette. Continue on the right side and you will come to another fountain, the remains of a mill and the house where Enrico Fermi (physicist from 1901–1954) stayed in 1925. Continue walking for a few minutes and you arrive in Caiar where you can admire a sundial, fresco and a beautiful pink mountain from the 1827. Rejoin the main street and continue decending you will find another fantastic fountain within a small walled area.

Fontana Cometti

Continue walking and you will arrive at Cometti which used to be a marble factory then, after about 500 metres turn right and you will arive at the starting point. Villa Carlotti.
