The paths on the “waterways” retrace ancient paths where we find fountains, wash houses, mills that testify to the ingenuity of man and his way of organizing the territory and its resources. The route crosses the territories of Pesina/Boi/Piozze/Castello/Pesina.

Start from the parking in front of the school of Pesina, dedicated to the scientist Francesco Fontana, born in Pesina in 1794, who discovered salicin’s properties, an essence contained in willow trees, from which the modern aspirin derived. You’ll walk in front of the Pesina’s church dedicated to San Gallo, built in 1750. Keep walking in Via Salgar up to first public Pesina’s washhouse.

Continue to the ancient settlement of Salgar, made up of arched buildings dating back to 1300 and then to Via Salgar, towards Via delle Loppie; 100m away on the right is the old fountain called “fontanel” with an adjoining animal trough:

Turn left, go along the "municipal valley", until you cross the Loppie municipal road. Here you turn right and after 300m you arrive at the ancient Corte Malaspina, you turn left and pass in front of the church of the Madonna della Mercede and you arrive at the Boi fountain-washhouse:

Continue along Via Porton, skirting an ancient well right in front of the old “Comun de Boi”. Cross the main street Pesina-Caprino again, following the roadway for about 200 metres. At this point you go up, on the left, onto the “Fornase” road, on the right you can see the wash house of the district:

Contrada’s washhouse

Walk up and you will reach contrada Piozze, and an ancient cross, commissioned by Chignola’s family in 1839. Leaving Piozze there is the hamlet’s fountain-washhouse.

Continue west and, turning right, you arrive at Casetta and then the localities of Le Tane and Moschetta. From here you go down towards the only road that flanks, to the north, the park of Villa Negrelli and, once you reach the crossroads, keep left, skirting the locality of Castel, an ancient prehistoric castle; you arrive at the cemetery which incorporates the remains of the primitive parish church of Pesina present since 1460, dedicated to Santa Cecilia. You go down the road lined with cypress trees and arrive at the starting point.
