Path to discover the fountains and wash houses between the fortress of Rivoli “Wolghemuth” and the Chiusa of Ceraino.

The route starts from Piazza Busolli where it is possible to park then, heading south on the paved pavement that also serves as a cycle path, after the bus stop shelter, turn left taking via Fontane.

Piazza Busolli

Chiesa di San Giovanni Battista

After a few steps the road becomes cobbled and, after a small curve, you can immediately see the first fountain of the route which is located just below the town hall.

Fontana palazzo comunale

Continue on the small road downhill for a few hundred meters, reaching a crossroads, turn right onto via boat, just crossing the small intersection you can see the second wash house.

Lavatoio Via Battello

You go down the road and in a few minutes you are in the open countryside and on our left you begin to see Fort Wolghemuth, from 2007 Fort Rivoli because of municipal property, the imposing settlement that you see just below and the Massena barracks now in part of the headquarters of the Alpine troops.

Fort Rivoli

Forte Rivoli

Continuing along the road you arrive at a very suggestive place where the Adige river twists with a couple of curves cut into the rock before entering the so-called lock, now we find ourselves right under the famous Rocca di Rivoli, one of the first human settlements in the area.

We return to the road we took on the outward journey up to the second wash house, here we will no longer turn left but will continue uphill slightly on via Battello shortly after we find ourselves at the crossroads with via Traversa Castello we follow via Traversa Battello and we will find ourselves in front of the entrance to the road which it goes up towards the Rivoli fort.

It should be noted that during the winter the fort remains closed and then reopens in the spring and continues until late autumn but, even if it were closed, the climb of about a kilometer of dirt road is worth the view. We go down and continue along via Traversa Battello then, we will find ourselves on the main road from which we will reach the starting point.
